There’s a big wedding coming up! (And no I don’t mean the eventual KimYe wedding) The creator of the Force, George Lucas and his girlfriend of seven years, Mellody Hobson have announced their engagement! The two are almost 20 years apart, with Lucas being 68 and Hobson being 43, but they look so cute together! Hobson is a businesswoman and sits on the board of directors for a number of brands, including Starbucks, Estee Lauder, Groupon and Dreamworks (so I sufficiently feel like I’ve done nothing with my life now!)
If you haven’t started decorating for the holidays yet, I’m not sure what you’re waiting for! Maybe you were waiting for the perfect Star Wars diy snowflakes, in which here you go! We’re hosting Christmas at my house this year so the decorating has been on full blast but now that I’ve found these snowflakes the decorating just might take a turn for the nerdy! Anthony Herrera started making these snowflakes last year and created even more this year for the diy inclined decorators. He has everyone from Admiral Ackbar to Bossk to C-3PO snowflakes available for free download via his website. In the video below he gives a tutorial on his DIY Star Wars Snowflakes:
New York Comic Con has come and gone! *Someone cue the Back to Reality by En Vogue* Over this past weekend, while trekking to and from the Jacob Javits center, there was one thought that kept popping into my head: this is like Fashion Week for geeks! Now before you go calling Anna Wintour on me, let me explain. I realize there aren’t too many of us that look forward to (and lose their minds at) both events so let me give you my personal breakdown:
1. There’s new product unveilings: Where Comic Con lacks in runways it more than makes up for in panels where industry leaders announce upcoming product releases and updates. Take for instance the Streetfighter’s 25th Anniversary panel, where Yoshinori Ono announced his plan to revive the beloved 90’s classic, Darkstalkers, for a possible release in Spring ’13 entitled Darkstalkers Resurrection! (Seriously when the trailer for the new Darkstalkers came on we all, including me, lost our minds!) Not to mention Marvel’s announcement of Agent Coulson‘s return to S.H.I.E.L.D. in the upcoming ABC show of the same name (no word on how they’ll explain his return from the dead) + the (re)launch of a slew of comic titles including Secret Avengers, Young Avengers and the (obviously) Hunger Games inspired Avengers Arena.
I know I have’t done a nail post in a while, I didn’t mean to be neglectful! But now I have my two favorite manicures from the past few weeks to share with you now though. Firstly my nail art brushes came so I did my first ‘real’ nail art mani for Star Wars Day. C3PO, Stormtroopers and Boba Fett were the easiest for a beginner drawer like myself so that’s what we started with. Now that I’ve gotten the hang of the drawing though I’m sure there will be more to come!
Every year for my favorite holiday, I get myself a an item or two as a birthday gift to myself. So even though toys haven’t been on my birthday list in a while, when I saw the new Lego R2-D2, I had to make an exception!
Part of me has slightly grown to dislike Lego, but thats mostly because the boy consistently leaves them on my floor for me to step on. Maybe I’ll let him help me put R2 together though. Maybe?
The exclusive R2-D2 is appropriately* scheduled for a May 1 release for $179…now excuse me while I go look for some Lego coupons!
*Random Star Wars Fact: Every Star Wars movie was released in May*
