Lacquer Saturday: Catwoman Edition

So initially I was going for claws when I started this diy design but not liking how they came out it became a silver french manicure, but I think it’s still supercute! I used Barocci black nail polish, the Essie Matte About You that I love and some glitter design polish from the beauty supply store. The black nail polish was a bit cheap so it took more coats of polish than I expected but we made it work and my catwoman outfit was complete!

Lacquer Saturday- Sephora Nail Bling

I may have been preoccupied with Comic Con today but I still (kind of) figured out how to get you guys this tutorial! I give you- Sephora Nail Bling!

The main ingredient besides the nail bling being a scissor and/or nail clipper, match each nail bling to your nail size.
Their going to be too long and since they’re glue based I recommend pressing them on uncut nails. Once their on, cut your nail + the bling down and they’ll be the perfect length! Continue reading

Lacquer Saturday: I’m Matte About It Too!

All In One base coat + Carry On + Matte About You top coat

I’ve had this new Essie treatment in my arsenal for a few weeks and finally tried it this morning. Aptly named ‘Matte About You’ the seemingly clear top coat puts a matte finish over any nail polish! I’m not sure what it is about matte finishes but I love them (I’ve already decided my perfect car would have a matte finish!). So still trying out the Essie fall line, I went with that pretty deep purple I showed you all before – Carry On Continue reading

Lacquer Saturday: Introducing Curtsy & Bow!

Seems like every time I get my hair done I do my nails too…not that I’m complaining! I got an invite the other day to what I thought was a nail polish trunk show, but actually was an open house for new condos in Harlem. Serves me right for not reading the whole invite, but I saw the words ‘nail lacquer’ and rsvp’ed immediately! There I met Curtsy and Bow owner, Melissa, whose luxury organic nail lacquer brand just launched this summer. Already sold in a number of Brooklyn nail salons and available online, Melissa named her brand after her love for bows (she even has one tattooed on her foot!) and a testament to the underused curtsy. “The curtsy is so ladylike, it was common years ago and we never do it anymore” says Melissa. Having grown up in a nail salon, Melissa founded her brand as the answer the toxicity of traditional nail polishes she was exposed to as a child.

Lacquer Saturday: Starry Nights!

I scored once again in Forever 21! I really just went for a cute pair of flats (ended up with a cute pair of wedge booties) but I did find some great nail colors AND I had no idea they made acrylics too! I don’t know if you guys noticed but I’ve been on a nail kick for the longest time, I’m actually thinking about making it a weekly thing here. So when I finally made it to the nail polish bins I’d hit the jackpot. I got a navy and deep pink color, perfect for my fall wardrobe, and I got a really cute gold speckled polish (reminiscent of the sequin nails I did a few months back). Later in the fall I’m sure I’ll be wearing the navy alone but as I’m getting the last days of summer out of my system I love having the gold on top!
