I don’t think I need to remind anyone that it’s been hot as blazes in NYC this week, so as summer is clearly upon us I thought now might be a good time to try out this tangerine color I received as a Klout perk a few weeks ago- Fear or Desire. I paired it with a floral nail bling design from Sephora and it came out even cuter than I expected!
I’ve realized I’m kind of a last-minute sort of person when it comes to my nails. I decide which color to change them to about 20 min before I need to leave the house, and I haven’t gotten dressed yet. As such I’ve been getting a lot of use from the (so-called) quick dry top coats, which sometimes aren’t as quick as we’d like them to be. So this week I’m sharing my top three picks for the best “quick dry” top coats!
#3: Essie Good to Go- As big of an Essie fan as I am, I have to put their quick dry top coat in last place on this one. It’s not awful, I definitely thought it would dry quicker than it did, but I’d use it again if I’m in a jam.
I know I have’t done a nail post in a while, I didn’t mean to be neglectful! But now I have my two favorite manicures from the past few weeks to share with you now though. Firstly my nail art brushes came so I did my first ‘real’ nail art mani for Star Wars Day. C3PO, Stormtroopers and Boba Fett were the easiest for a beginner drawer like myself so that’s what we started with. Now that I’ve gotten the hang of the drawing though I’m sure there will be more to come!
This week I experimented with a few polishes gifted to me by my Greg Littley (I love that my co-workers knows me so well) two exclusive Essie colors from the NYFW Mercedes-Benz and Naeem Khan installation-
I don’t usually go for whites, especially one this stark but I figured it could be a great background color for one of my new top coats. I layered it with Sephora‘s 3D glitter in blue, which turned out very pretty (would’ve been a perfect ‘first snow’ mani). The only thing I didn’t like was the nail polish smudged almost 3 hours after I did my nails- something that’s never happened with Essie so I’m blaming it on the Sephora glitter. Continue reading
So initially I was going for claws when I started this diy design but not liking how they came out it became a silver french manicure, but I think it’s still supercute! I used Barocci black nail polish, the Essie Matte About You that I love and some glitter design polish from the beauty supply store. The black nail polish was a bit cheap so it took more coats of polish than I expected but we made it work and my catwoman outfit was complete!
