This IS The News You’re Looking For!

As many of you may remember, J.J. Abrams initially told us all he wouldn’t be directing the upcoming Star Wars VII, and it broke all of our hearts. Then we get word that he will be directing my beloved Star Wars after all, although neither he nor Disney gave any official statements so needless to say I was a bit hesitant to say anything about it in fear of getting my hopes up.

J.J. Abrams Star Wars

But I prayed to the filmmaking gods for Abrams to stop playing with my emotions and we (finally) have the official word from the good folks at Lucasfilm, that Abrams will in fact direct Star Wars: Episode VII. It’ll be the first of a new series of who-knows-how-many films to come from Lucasfilm/Disney. We already know that Academy Award-winning writer Michael Arndt will write the screenplay and Lawrence Kasdan (screenwriter on The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi [my two favorite episodes]) will also be a consultant on the project. So I have to say, I’m really looking forward to this movie now! Since the purchase I’ve been a bit uneasy about what Disney might do with my saga, but there really isn’t anyone better to direct Star Wars than Abrams. Being a fan of the franchise himself puts a lot of Star Wars geeks at ease, as he for all intents and purposes knows the “essence” of Star Wars.

If you aren’t familiar with J.J. Abrams (kindly come out from under your rock), he and his production company Bad Robot  are responsible for  Star TrekSuper 8Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, and Star Trek Into Darkness, Lost and Fringe (the latter of which I loved until they got rid of Peter…seriously the show is useless without him). George Lucas <3’s Abrams too: “I’ve consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller. He’s an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn’t be in better hands.”…you can’t really get a better thumbs up than that! And of course J.J. reciprocates the love: “I may be even more grateful to George Lucas now than I was as a kid.”

Tell me I’m not the only one excited for the upcoming Star Wars!?

OOTD: The Power of the Dark Side

Can I tell you a little secret? I did actually make one New Year’s resolution! And no it isn’t to go to the gym more often, stop drinking so much grape soda or to finally set up that Etsy store (yes…all of those are still on my to-do list). My one resolution is to start doing more outfit posts! So as luck would have it my dear grandmother got me a Belkin LiveAction for Kwanzaa, and I took it as a sign! So here after my first photo shoot of myself, with myself, by myself  and for myself, is my first outfit post of 2013 🙂

This coat is one of my favorites, I got it during my first venture into Pay/Half last year and fell in love! The sleeves are very wide so if you’re like me and always walk with your hands in your pockets it looks like a true cape but it isnt! (Kinda makes me feel like a girly Darth Vader!) Those sleeves are a gift and a curse though, usually it’s not warm enough to wear in dead of winter (wind just flows right up the sleeves!) but I’ve been taking advantage of the mild weather we’ve been having in NYC lately. Marvel Comics Shows Its Support for Gay Marriage!

Truth be told my comic book attention has been mainly on the Avengers vs. Xmen series as of late, but a different series just recaptured my attention with it’s newest issue. As if I wasn’t already a proud Marvel girl, my loyalty was only reaffirmed yesterday when my stepfather came home with this:

Lacquer Saturday: Star Wars Love & Glitter Frenchies

I know I have’t done a nail post in a while, I didn’t mean to be neglectful! But now I have my two favorite manicures from the past few weeks to share with you now though. Firstly my nail art brushes came so I did my first ‘real’ nail art mani for Star Wars Day. C3PO, Stormtroopers and Boba Fett were the easiest for a beginner drawer like myself so that’s what we started with. Now that I’ve gotten the hang of the drawing though I’m sure there will be more to come!
