NYFW: Mara Hoffman

I had the pleasure of attending Mara Hoffman’s NYFW show last Saturday (thanks to Kosi giving up her ticket!) it just might be one of the best shows I’ve ever been to! Why? Because Mara in addition to pulling inspiration from Europe’s wild men, she used the iconic Luke Skywalker as her muse for the collection. While Mara Hoffman is known for her bohemian chic style, this line took a trip to Tunisia (where the Tatooine scenes of Star Wars are filmed) to show us just what it means to be a stylish Jedi!  Across a runway backdropped by Tatooine’s binary sunset, the show began with a snippet of (what else?) Episode IV’s “Binary Sunset” composition. The F/W15 collection comes replete with geometric designs, crepe fabrics, chiffon tufting appliqués, Tatooine-reminiscent color-ways and exactly the kind of drape you’d expect of said stylish Jedi. While intricate braids paid homage to Princess Leia, their nail art caught my eye and I can’t wait to do a tutorial on it for Lacquer Saturday!

This jumpsuit and scarf combo was my absolute favorite from the show, I’d legit traipse NY streets in this if I could! My only question however, is would it be too much to ask that some of these pieces show up in Episode VII? With noticeably more women in the movie and in more prominent roles I’m wondering if any of them might have a stylish side! Tell me your thoughts on the entire collection below:

  1. I like this collection Qui! My favs are the gold pieces at the end, the camel wrap coat and the ivory, key hole neck jumpsuit. The collection looks elegant and comfortable. The black and white striped wrap is nice as well. Thanks for a fun read! I miss your musings!

  2. It would be awesome to have some of these in the movie, I’m sure Mara wouldn’t mind that 😊
Lovely post and show wrap up. I like the collection, the jumpsuit and the last 2 pieces really stand out.
