So I haven’t written a blog post in way too long, but I figured Star Wars Day (and my birthday) are perfect enough reasons to get back over here. I’ve been stepping up my nail art game each year for my birthday…and by ‘stepping up’ I mean paying someone more talented to do it for me…and i am officially obsessed with this year’s Star Wars nail art! I gave artist Fleury Rose of Tomahawk Salon creative reign over my nail art, so long as it included Boba Fett and R2D2 and she rocked it! Continue reading
I had the pleasure of attending Mara Hoffman’s NYFW show last Saturday (thanks to Kosi giving up her ticket!) it just might be one of the best shows I’ve ever been to! Why? Because Mara in addition to pulling inspiration from Europe’s wild men, she used the iconic Luke Skywalker as her muse for the collection. While Mara Hoffman is known for her bohemian chic style, this line took a trip to Tunisia (where the Tatooine scenes of Star Wars are filmed) to show us just what it means to be a stylish jedi! Across a runway backdropped by Tatooine’s binary sunset, the show began with a snippet of (what else?) Episode IV’s “Binary Sunset” composition. The F/W15 collection comes replete with geometric designs, crepe fabrics, chiffon tufting appliques, Tatooine-reminiscent colorways and exactly the kind of drape you’d expect of said stylish jedi. While intricate braids paid homage to Princess Leia, their nail art caught my eye and I can’t wait to do a tutorial on it for Lacquer Saturday!
This jumpsuit and scarf combo was my absolute favorite from the show, I’d legit traipse NY streets in this if I could! My only question however, is would it be too much to ask that some of these pieces show up in Episode VII? With noticeably more women in the movie and in more prominent roles I’m wondering if any of them might have a stylish side! Tell me your thoughts on the entire collection below:
Avengers, Black panther, Black Widow, captain america, Captain Marvel, Comics, DC Comics, Disney, Disney Movies, Doctor Strange, groot, Guardians of the galaxy, Hawkeye, Loki, Marvel, Marvel Comics, Sherlock Holmes, Smaug, Thor, Ultron, wonder woman
If you weren’t sure before, you can definitely be certain now, Marvel is getting the full Disney treatment. At yesterday’s #MarvelEvent they announced dates and updates for several new releases, so here’s a quick recap of the movies you should be planning your life around for the next 4 years:
They’ve announced the casting, so I can finally let myself believe that this movie is really happening. Chadwick Boseman (Jackie Robinson + James Brown actor) is assuming the title with the movie to be released November 3, 2017. Luckily for us we don’t have to wait until then to see him as he’ll be making an appearance in the next Captain America well before that. Speaking of which…Captain America: Civil War releases May 6, 2016! Continue reading
Whether it’s your first or 10th year going to NYCC, you learn something new every year about how to ‘survive’ the it (or any con for that matter). So in preparation for this years NYCC, I’ve compiled what I’ve learned over the past few years into this little list: Continue reading
